Art and Culture Classes
Primary and middle school students have art and culture classes on Friday mornings from nine to noon. High school students have classes on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 3:00 to 4:30.
As a community, we feel it is important for children to learn artistic skills and have the experience of working together to create art and theater. The historical and cultural contexts of these classes connect to and support our classes in English, Social Studies and Spanish.
In this era of budget cuts, our parents have committed to raising the money to hire artists/teachers to teach quality art classes for our students. Thus, providing qualified people to teach art in a structured way, while also freeing our regular staff to meet together for planning and paperwork each Friday. There are no classes on Friday afternoons, but childcare is available for $3.00 an hour until 3:00 p.m.
I'll add more information about classes as we finalize them.
