Spring Trip to San Francisco
The middle and high school students will spend a week in San Francisco June 4-11 as the culmination of our study of world geography and cultures. The City by the Bay has a wealth of museums, events, theater and foods that represent the cultures and places that we’ll be studying all year in our art, social studies, Spanish 1 and reader’s theater classes. Students will begin researching and planning for the trip in January. They will be expected to:
*Research and present information on cultural events, museums or other exhibits that we could visit.
*Help plan and make reservations for events, museums and other exhibits that the group decides upon.
*Create a city “treasure hunt” to be completed during our trip.
*Become familiar with maps of the city and be able to use maps and public transportation to navigate our way around the city.
*Contribute journal entries and other writing assignments to the final book we publish about our trip.
*Create a menu and shopping list that is culturally diverse. Prepare meals.
We’ll be staying at the Fort Mason Hostel in San Francisco. Cost will be approximately $350.00 per student. Look for a detailed itinerary and packing list when the students develop them in January!
